50-Year-Old Pizza Chain Shuts Down Suddenly After Bankruptcy Filing

A beloved Minnesota pizza chain, Gina Maria’s Pizza, has officially shut down after more than 50 years of serving loyal customers across generations.

The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on March 26, meaning it will permanently close and sell assets instead of trying to recover.

All four restaurant locations in the Twin Cities area closed suddenly in October 2025, leaving employees and customers completely unaware of the shutdown.

Customers calling the restaurants heard automated messages confirming permanent closure, while the company provided only a short goodbye message on its website.

Financial reports showed nearly $2.9 million in liabilities and just $64,000 in assets, making it nearly impossible for the business to survive.

The pizza chain started in 1975 in Minnetonka and grew into a trusted local favorite, known for its community feel and consistent quality.

The closure reflects wider struggles in the pizza industry, as rising costs and changing habits push customers toward frozen pizza and takeaway options.
